a) To mainstream work and activities of the Regional and Special Regional Services of the General Directorate of Antiquities and Cultural Heritage pertaining to the foundation, establishment and operation of Archaeological Museums, as well as to safeguard and protect the cultural goods kept therein.
b) To promote uptodate museological and museographic concepts and their practical application.
c) To coordinate the communication policy of Archaeological Museums and Ephorates of Antiquities with a view to increasing visitor numbers and encouraging the participation of citizens, and in particular the educational community, in cultural events and educational programmes in Archaeological sites and Museums.
d) To promote, coordinate and supervise the organisation of archaeological exhibitions in Greece and abroad.
e) To submit proposals on various issues of its competence to the advisory bodies of the Ministry of Culture for examination and advisory opinion.
f) To prepare and regularly re-evaluate annual Operational Plans
g) To plan and participate in conferences, seminars and training activities in general, on various issues related to its competencies.
