  • Tatiana Karapanagioti

    ​Tatiana Karapanagioti was born in Athens in 1971.An accomplished TV Producer, Photographer, Illustrator, and Cultural Specialist, Karapanagioti left Greece in 1989 to pursue Photography and Media Studies at the London Institute. In 1997, she earned her MA in Illustration, specializing in Ancient Greek mythology, from the Royal College of Art in London. From 1998-2000 she directed the publishing house “Salvo Publications” at the Royal College of Art.As an artist, Karapanagioti’s work has earned several international distinctions and has appeared in several high-profile exhibitions in London and Berlin. She has also illustrated for several renowned publishing houses in the UK (Penguin Books, Faber & Faber, Granta Books, Hamilton Press) and in Greece (Okeanida).In 2000, Karapanagioti returned to Greece and formed Urgh Cine and TV Productions. Under this umbrella, she has served as Executive Producer for the leading investigative programs in Greek television, including “Fakeloi” with Alexis Papahelas [SKAI], “Erevna” with Pavlos Tsimas [MEGA], “Protagonistes” with Stavros Theodorakis [MEGA], and “Elli” with Elli Stai [MEGA]. She also produced the documentary series “A Modern Pafsanias” [ERT DIGITAL/PRISMA+]. In addition, Karapanagioti has spearheaded numerous advertising and promotional productions for clients such as Megaron Mousikis Athens, Zoumboulakis Galleries, the Lambrakis Publications Group, the Greek Film Center, and DESTE.Renowned for her ability to capture and promote cultural activities on screen, Karapanagioti has been enlisted to produce numerous educational documentaries for leading Greek institutions, including the Acropolis Museum, the Cycladid Museum, the Athens Music Hall, the Kamerata Orchestra, the Association for Friends of Music, the Greek Ministry of Education, and the Greek Ministry of Culture and Tourism.From 2001-2002, she served as Director of THEATIS Monthly, a Magazine for the Arts.Karapanagioti was elected as a Member of Parliament on the Panhellenic Socialist Movement’s [PASOK] State Ballot in 2012. In May 2012, she was appointed Greek Minister of Culture & Tourism for the caretaker government of Prime Minister Panagiotis Pikramenos.She is fluent in English and French.
