EYCH 2018 The contribution of Cultivating Currants (black corinthian raisins) to the Cultural Heritage of Greece, 21-22 July 2018
Currants' vine, grown in Peloponnese and Ionian islands, produces the world's only currants (black Corinthian raisins). Currants' cultivation is for centuries shaping the collective life of the raisin-producing communities and the cultural landscape of the regions in which they are produced. The cultivation of currants, which was recently registered in the National Inheritance Register, is being migrated from generation to generation and is an important element of sustainable development.
