The Greek Ministry of Culture establishes, coordinates and supports an international network of ancient drama, with the participation of the National Theatre of Greece, the Northern National Theatre of Thessaloniki, the Lyceum of Epidaurus and the Attiko School in Eleusis. The network consists of educational programs and artistic activities focused on the study of Ancient Drama and the familiarization of the participants and the community at large with its form and content.
Currently the National Theatre of Greece, the Lyceum of Epidaurus and Attiko School are inviting applications by interested artists to participate in any of the three summer programs listed below. For details please contact each school directly.
The National Theatre of Greece shall conduct the International Workshop of Ancient Drama in the European Cultural Centre of Delphi from the 16th until the 30th of July 2017. This is a high-standard masterclass led by acclaimed Greek director Michail Marmarinos addressed to theatre actors, directors, chorepgraphers and designers with at least two years of professional theatre experience.
Cost: 400 euros (includes fees, transport from Athens to Delfi, accommodation and 2 meals per day)

This year’s theme is “The Arrival of the Stranger”. The School, which includes masterclasses, educational visits and presentations, is addressed to students and recent graduates (less than 2 years experience)

More info: http://greekfestival.gr/en/epidaurus_lyceum The Attiko School of Ancient Drama is organized by Baumstrasse in collaboration with the municipality of Eleusis, in the old oil mill of Eleusis from the 1st to the 10th of July 2017. The program brings together high caliber artists and teachers from Greece and abroad to engage participants in an interdisciplinary, immersive exploration of Greek tragedy and related art forms. It is geared towards any individual above 18 years of age who is interested in exploring Ancient Greek Drama with an open mind. This year’s subject is “The Seven Surviving Tragedies of Sophocles”.

The meeting aims to link the valuable inheritance of Ancient Drama with the contemporary artistic creation and to provide motives to young artists to deal with ancient theatre texts.
The National Theatre of Northern Greece invites for participation:
1) Professional artists (until 35 years old) and graduates of schools of drama or Universities specialized in acting, to participate in workshops that will lead to the presentation of the work done in common by artists from different countries.. The artists should send CV, photos and at least one video extract from a performance that they had participated. Sufficient knowledge of English is required.
2) Groups of young artists (until 35 years old) who work in Southeast European countries, have dealt before with Ancient Greek Drama and are able to present a finished performance or a work in progress based on ancient drama focusing in politics. Groups must send a short CV of the group, individual CVs of the members, description of the idea and the direction, video of the performance (if applicable), videos extracts from previous performances, photos and sample text in Greek or English.
Cost: Free of charge for the selected groups/artists. NTNG covers travelling and overnight expenses for groups and individual artists visiting from outside of Greece; and overnight expenses for artists who live in Greece
