The church of Saint Demetrius in Mavranaioi is a three aisle basilica.A dome is dominating the central part of the church. In the west side, a narthex was built in an upper level, but nowadays is demolished. The wall paintings are preserved in the sanctuary and in the north-east and south-east part of the walls.They are dated in the 19th century.
The wall paintings of the church were cleaned from soot, dust and salts using a combination of mechanical and chemical means.Their surface became solid and their aesthetic view was restored. The restoration is held under the supervision of 17th EBA.
