  • Andonis K. Samaras

    Member of the Greek Parliament, New Democracy Party

    Born in Athens, on May 23rd 1951. Married to Georgia Kritikou. Father of Lena (18) and Kostas (11) From 1977 until 1993 he was elected Member of the Greek Parliament for Messinia with the New Democracy party.

    He has held the positions of Minister of Economic Affairs (1989) and Minister of Foreign Affairs (1989-1992).

    In 1993 he was elected Member of Parliament with the Political Spring party, whose President he remained until 2004.

    In 2004 he was elected Member of the European Parliament with the New Democracy party. In the European Parliament he became a member of the Budget Committee, the Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee, the Lisbon Strategy Group and the EU-Russia Delegation.

    In 2007 he was elected Member of Parliament for Messinia with the New Democracy party. Until assuming ministerial duties (January 2009), he was a member of the Economic Affairs Committee in the Greek Parliament and the European Affairs Committee.

    Antonis Samaras studied economics at Amherst College (BA, 1974) and Business Administration at Harvard University (MBA, 1976).

    He speaks English, French and Italian.
